Revision as of 14:29, 29 June 2022

This list includes all appearances of Dead or Alive characters in games from unrelated series. This does not include the Ninja Gaiden series since they happen in the same universe and can be considered sibling series, and also appearances of Ryu Hayabusa won't be considered unless he is alongside other characters from the series because of his status as a Ninja Gaiden character first.

The Dead or Alive characters initially didn't have a lot of appearances in other series, and most of them were on other Tecmo and later Koei Tecmo games, mainly Monster Rancher and the Warriors/Musou series based on Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, however more or less since Senran Kagura: Estival Versus the series has had multiple collaborations with other series, especially on gacha games, with Kasumi, Marie Rose, Ayane and Honoka being recurring characters in these collaborations, with others like Hitomi, Nyotengu, Tamaki, Misaki, Leifang, Monica or Nagisa appearing less often. Other than Ryu Hayabusa none of the male characters have ever appeared on other games.

Character appearances

Monster Rancher Series

Monster Rancher 2

Monster Rancher 2 for the playstation featured Kasumi as a monster in the game, especifically a pixie, that could be obtained by using a Dead or Alive CD. This was the first appearance of a Dead or Alive character on an unrelated game.

Monster Rancher Advance 2

Monster Rancher Advance 2 features Ayane as a pixie in the game. This was the first appearance of a Dead or Alive character on a Nintendo system.

Monster Rancher 4

Kasumi returns as a pixie in Monster Rancher 4, this time with her most well known blue outfit instead of the default outfit of the original arcade game. She can be obtained with a PS2 Dead or Alive 2 disc.

Monster Rancher DS 1 and 2

Kasumi returns in both Monster Rancher games for the Nintendo DS (with the second one known as just Monster Rancher DS outside of Japan) with the same look as Monster Rancher 4.

My Monster Rancher

Kasumi returns in My Monster Rancher for mobile phones with the same look as Monster Rancher 4.

Warriors/Musou series

Dynasty Warriors series

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce

Ayane and Ryu Hayabusa appear in the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Dynasty Warriors Strike Force as NPC's. They are based on their appearance of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 instead of Dead or Alive.

Dynasty Warriors VS

Ayane and Hayabusa returned for Dynasty Warriors VS, overall the same way as in Warrior Orochi 3. This game came out before the Special version of WO3, so neither Rachel, Momiji or Kasumi are present.

Warriors Orochi series

Warriors Orochi 3/Special/Hyper/Ultimate

Hayabusa and Ayane returned in Warrior Orochi 3 but this time as fully playable characters, but again with their look of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and a moveset based on that game. In the Special version Rachel was added and in the Hyper version Momiji was added, though a year before their Dead or Alive debut. Finally Kasumi was added in the Ultimate version, and like the rest her moveset is based on what was seen on the Ninja Gaiden series, in this case Razor's Edge (where she was added after Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper came out, that being likely the reason she took so long to be added).

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate

Hayabusa alone returned in a final update of Warriors Orochi 4, however this can be considered mostly as a cross over with Ninja Gaiden more than anything, since no other Dead or Alive element or original character is present.

Warriors All-Stars

For the first time in the series, Dead or Alive characters were added to Warriors All-Stars with their moveset based on the actual Dead or Alive series instead of Ninja Gaiden, in this case Kasumi, Marie Rose and Honoka. Ayane and Hayabusa are also present, but representing Ninja Gaiden with their moveset from those games.

Senran Kagura series

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

Ayane was added as DLC to Senran Kagura Estival Versus, with a martial arts moveset, Kasumi's blue costume was also added. These elements are no longer available to purchase.

Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash

Ayane, Marie Rose and Honoka were added as DLC characters to Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash, as well as Kasumi's blue costume.

Shinobi Master: Senran Kagura New Link

Senran Kagura New Link has had 4 collaborations with Dead or Alive, the first one on 2018 added Ayane once again as a playable characters, as well as costumes based on Kasumi and Marie Rose, with hairstyle added. The following year it took place a collaboration with Venus Vacation and with it Marie and Honoka were added as playable characters again, as well as a costume based on Misaki and a new costume for Ayane. The following year it took place a collaboration with Dead or Alive 6 where Kasumi finally made her debut to the series, wearing her Deluxe Edition costume of the game and a swimsuit, as well as a costume based on Nico and two new costumes for Ayane. A year and a half later in early 2022 a second collaboration with Venus Vacation and fourth with the series overall was announced, adding Tamaki to the game as well as new swimstuits for Honoka and Marie Rose (being the first one not to add one for Ayane) and a costume based on Leifang for other characters.

SNK Multiverse's guest characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond are also included here, accompanied by two other SNK girls.

Bijin Tokei

Kasumi and Hitomi were added to the clock app Bijin Tokei in early 2010 for a limited time as part of a collaboration with Dead or Alive Paradise. This is the only appearance of Hitomi in a non Dead or Alive software yet.

Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water

Ayane appears as a playable character in a special non canonical mission in Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water. Ayane is hired to investigate the disappearance of a young woman by the name of Tsumugi, who was last seen headed towards Mt. Hikami, a place known for people to go to with the intent of suicide.

Destiny Child

Kasumi, Marie Rose and Honoka were added to the app game Destiny Child in late 2018 as part of a collaboration with Venus Vacation, and they all feature multiple costumes from that game.

A second collaboration took place 2 years later, adding Leifang and Ayane, plus what it seems to be an endless boss fight against Kasumi in some regional versions.

Alice Gear Aegis

Kasumi and Marie Rose were added to the app game Alice Gear Aegis in early 2020 as part of a collaboration with Venus Vacation, and they get to fight on mech suits.

A second collaboration was announced over two years later, this time adding Nyotengu alongside the two previous girls.

Azur Lane

On on their revealing variants' cases, Marie and Honoka wears the different alternate costumes from Dead or Alive 5, while Kasumi and Nyotengu wears their respective Seaside Eden bikini.

The King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match Online

Marie Rose, Honoka and Nyotengu were added to this game as part of a collaboration with Dead or Alive 6 in late 2021. This is the first collaboration of Dead or Alive with other series not to feature Kasumi or Ayane.

Idle Huntress

Kasumi and Marie Rose were added to Idle Huntress as part of a collaboration with Venus Vacation in late 2021, featuring 2 revealing costumes each. Honoka and Misaki also appeared on the art for the title screen and were directly added to the game less than two months later on the second collaboration, making this the shortest time between collaborations with any other game.

Outfit usage only

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut for the Xbox featured Kasumi and Ayane's costumes for the main characters Miu and Mayu. These costumes didn't return for the Nintendo Wii remake.

Super Swing Golf featured an outfit based on Kasumi, with hairstyle included, and later Super Swing Golf Season 2 featured other 2 based on Ayane and Hayabusa, as well as the previous one from Kasumi once again.

Dynasty Warriors Online featured costumes based on Hayabusa and Ayane, based on their Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's appearance.

Phantasy Star Online 2 featured costumes based on Kasumi, Ayane, Marie Rose and Hayabusa.
