Dead or Alive: Dimensions is set to be the latest installment in the Dead or Alive franchise. In development for the Nintendo 3DS, Dimensions will be the first Dead or Alive game to be created for Nintendo, and the series's first fighting game for any handheld. This marks the series return to its original versus-fighting roots.
Tecmo Koei have announced that Dimensions is going to be one of the launch titles for the Nintendo 3DS in North America. Along with another Tecmo Koei title, the game is slated for release by the end of the company's fiscal year – March 31, 2011.
Development
One new mode the game has to offer is Chronicles Mode, a gameplay tutorial which teaches gameplay techniques, as well as plot elements to the DOA story.
Another new, visual feature in the game is the flashes and sparks that appear when a hit is made, such as in the Tekken and Street Fighter series.
Characters confirmed to appear in Dimensions so far have been Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi, Ryu Hayabusa, Hitomi, Bayman, Christie, and Helena. Additional characters from the DOA story will also appear in the game's new episodes of the story, including Raidou, Shiden, Fame Douglas, and Donovan. Two figthing stages from Dead or Alive 4, Kyoto in Bloom and Miyama, will be locations in the game.

- While Dimensions is the first fighting game of the series to appear on a handheld, it is actually the third Dead or Alive title to be released for a handheld console; the first two were Girls of DOA BlackJack for the iPhone, and Dead or Alive Paradise for the Playstation Portable.
