Daisuke Gōri

Template:VoiceActor Daisuke Gōri (郷里 大輔, Gōri Daisuke), real name Yoshio Nagahori (長堀 芳夫, Nagahori Yoshio) was a Japanese actor, who during his life was attached to TV Talent Center Tokyo, Yoshizawa Theatre School, Mausu Promotion, and finally Aoni Production. He was well known for his distinctive deep, booming voice.

He was the Japanese voice actor for Bass Armstrong since the character's debut in the 1998 PlayStation version of Dead or Alive. He was also the voice for many other characters, including Heihachi Mishima in Tekken and Edge Master in Soulcalibur, until he passed away in 2010.

According to fellow voice actors, Gōri was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus a few years prior to his death and his vision was affected by retinal detachment as a result of the disease. He complained to coworkers, "I can't read the scripts. I can't do my job like I'd like to." During an Anpanman recording session in late 2009, a depressed-sounding Gōri told his close friend voice actor Kazuhiko Inoue, "I've grown old."

On January 17, 2010, Gōri was found lying with slit wrists in the middle of a street in Nakano, Tokyo by a passerby, who then notified the police. Authorities from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Nakano station discovered a utility knife under his body as well as a suicide note addressed to his family in his pants pocket. Gōri's death was then ruled a suicide. After his death, his ongoing roles were replaced with other voice actors; the role of Bass was given to Kenta Miyake for Dead or Alive: Dimensions.
