- "It's time for a journey, Brad Wong"
- —Chen in Dead or Alive 3
Chen (simplified Chinese: 陈, traditional Chinese: 陳, pinyin: Chén) is a non-playable character first seen in Dead or Alive 3. He is Brad Wong's old drunken master and great teacher of zui quan.
He sent Brad to search for a wine named "Genra", which turned into a three to four-year long quest. He isn't seen again after his short appearance but he is mentioned in Dead or Alive 4 when Brad is talking to Eliot. During this conversation, Brad describes Chen as "your average drunk". Despite this fact, Brad still turned out to be a great fighter.
History[]
Nothing is known of Chen's history except he was Brad Wong's martial arts instructor and master.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Chen seems to be an aged man, most likely due to the excess amount of alcohol consumed over the years. He also wears homeless clothing, so he is most likely unemployed like Brad.
Personality[]
As seen in Dead or Alive 3, Chen seems to act as an honorable man devoted to his art and to teaching Brad. However, in Dead or Alive 4, Brad states to Eliot that he is "your average drunk."
Etymology[]
Chen is one of the most common East Asian family names. It ranks as the 5th most common surname in China.
Relationships[]
Brad Wong[]
Brad seems to have a great deal of respect of his master. Like Eliot, he seems devoted to both his master and his art that he would do anything to perfect it, such as searching for "Genra," as Chen ordered him to do.
