"Time for work...? Fine, I guess I'll go along with you then. ... I don't normally do this."
—Amy

Amy is a young student and tech specialist who appeared in the April 4, 2022 livestream and later the April 5, 2022 update for Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation in the DMM and Japanese Steam versions, and later the April 27th, 2023 update for the Singapore Steam and Johren versions.

Biography[]

Amy skipped ahead several grades to the extent that she reached Graduate School level by 18 years old, which she claimed was due to intense focus on her studies rather than any inherent smarts. While in college and majoring engineering and computer science, she attended a networking party and encountered another girl around her age, Luna, at the same party. Although unable to discern her due to her more eccentric and self-absorbed nature, she nevertheless seemed to get along with Luna well, although because Luna arrived at the party by accident due to smelling the food as well as Luna merely visiting the university that day, they parted ways before either had a chance to properly introduce themselves, which greatly affected Amy in the long run.

Some time later, while undergoing graduate school, she did a side business with helping people with data networking, often making sure she got her tasks done ahead of schedule to allow for optimum performance. She also referred to herself as a "Jack-of-all-Trades" when promoting herself. One of her clients was the owner of the Venus Islands. Although capable of supplying aid to the owner remotely, she decided to go on-site to the locale as an excuse to have a vacation. Shortly after finishing maintenance of the Wi-Fi system, she noticed the owner using a similar laptop model to her own, and made an attempt at conversation. However, the owner finished typing and left without apparently noticing, much to her sadness. The owner later encountered her while she was drinking, causing her to get defensive after she accidentally spilled on herself, but she forgave him and learned to her surprise that she had nearly scolded her client. The owner then offered to supply her with an additional job as one of the Venuses on the island. Although she heard about the Venus Festival while researching the island before taking the job, she was reluctant to participate mostly due to lack of confidence in her own social skills, though she ultimately agreed under the condition that he act as her business partner.

Appearance[]

Amy has fair skin, dirty blonde hair worn in low pigtails with hair clips on the left, and green eyes. Her body type is similar to Misaki's, being of petite height and slight build, but with slightly larger thighs. Her outfit consists of a black and red one-piece strapless swimsuit with digital circuit-like details beneath a short blue denim jacket with red and black plaid trim that she wears off-the-shoulder, and brown sandals with straps at the lower parts of her legs. Her accessories include red and black headphones, a black choker, and a light brown necklace with five gold square pieces and a jade green stone to match the one on the silver round piece attached by a brown band on her left leg. She has an optional ponytail hairstyle in the DMM version.

Personality[]

Amy has a largely tsundere-based demeanor, often denying she has any feelings for the owner when offering to do stuff for him, and also denying it to the various other girls, and even resorting to insulting the owner as a front by calling him a big dummy. It's implied her tsundere nature was a result on insecurities stemming from a lack of experience with interacting with others as a result of placing extensive focus on her studies.

Owing to her engineering background, she is very technologically savvy, as evidenced by her tutoring the Owner on how to run a program more efficiently.

Etymology[]

Amy is a name of the Old French name Amée meaning "beloved" (modern French aimée), a vernacular form of the Latin Amata.

Amy is also the diminutive of Amelia (from the Germanic amal meaning "work") which is spelled Amélie in French. In the same vein, it can also be the diminutive of Amanda (Latin she who must/is loved).

Relationships[]

Luna[]

Luna and Amy went to the same university in the past, although they rarely interacted with each other due to having differing fields of study – Luna with cultural anthropology and folklore, while Amy focused on computer networking and engineering – and partly due to Luna's self-absorbed nature. They briefly interacted once during a party, although because Amy seemed bored during the event while Luna was singing, Luna took it to heart to make sure she practiced singing in the next event they encountered each other in order to ensure she was entertained. They failed to get their names during this time.

They later reunited at the Venus Islands around the time of Amy's arrival when Patty brought Luna to her, due to Amy needing someone who had a thorough knowledge of the history of the island. Amy requested that they work together to study the history of the island, although Luna reluctantly refused, already having a busy schedule, instead providing her with a book on the history of the island with commentary that Amy found extremely useful. Amy ultimately regretted not having a full conversation with Luna, but put it aside due to being on the job. It is initially left ambiguous as to whether Luna actually remembered Amy from their time at grad school or not, although Luna later revealed she did indeed remember her, and that if anything, her earlier busy schedule entailed doing singing practice specifically to ensure Amy was entertained this time compared to at the party. They then, after learning Amy was upset that they failed to properly introduce themselves at the party, proceeded to do so.

Amy was later called over to an alchemy lab that Luna discovered, with her reluctantly agreeing to help Luna with an alchemy experiment regarding creating roasted sweet potatoes. Amy eventually ended up creating exactly what Luna was intending by accident, and was unable to take notes due to being in a rush, though they ultimately agreed it was indeed possible to do so. Amy was also implied to have advised Luna about trying to enter a relationship with the Owner, which Luna took to heart enough to run an operation on how to do so.[1]

Patty[]

Patty met Amy as part of an assignment by the Owner for the latter to get promotional reports about the island, including surveying. Patty was initially confused as to what promotional reports were, but Amy proceeded to explain the concept to her in terms she understood. She ultimately managed to run off without Amy, and regrouped with her after completing her task and having everyone participate among each other, impressing Amy. When Amy expressed interest in finding a way to learn more about the Venus Islands themselves, Patty took her to Luna due to her being the "local scholar" and introduced her, unaware of their prior history from college. After the meeting and Amy relaying a bit of their history, Patty implied that Luna recognized Amy due to Luna's scent from interacting with her.

Tsukushi[]

Amy met Tsukushi after she ended up separated from Patty regarding surveys, and attempted to ask questions about the island. However, it initially got off on the wrong foot when Tsukushi started obsessing over Amy's Venus status and taking particular note of Amy's headsets. Eventually, after properly explaining herself, Tsukushi alongside Hitomi proceeded to help her with her task of researching island attractions, largely due to her exploring the island to draw scenery for her manga attempt. Eventually, they went to a restaurant on a cliffside after a hike, with Amy hoping they'd work together again.

Hitomi[]

Amy met Hitomi after her initial failed introduction with Tsukushi. After explaining her current assignment, Hitomi proceeded to help her with her task of researching island attractions, largely due to her experience in exploring the island as part of training for Karate. She eventually convinced them to train via a hike. Eventually, they went to a restaurant on a cliffside afterward, with Amy hoping they'd work together again on a more free schedule.

Tamaki[]

Tamaki met Amy during the latter's welcoming party, although Amy was creeped out by her more flamboyant greeting. Tamaki later directed her as well as Helena to a seat so they could learn more about Amy. It was presumably during this time that Tamaki revealed she was a famous fashion designer, with Amy taking note of that regarding herself. After Amy tried to deny she had feelings for the Owner, Tamaki jokingly tried to infer she had a great story about the Owner. After Amy agreed to work with them and offering "nondisclosure agreements" for future interactions, Tamaki was all too willing to take her up on the offer.

Helena[]

Helena introduced herself to Amy shortly after Tamaki, making clear she and Tamaki were to act as escorts for her, while also telling off Tamaki for failing to moderate herself in front of Amy. She then went to a seat with Amy at Tamaki's choosing, presumably telling her about her being DOATEC's CEO during this time. When Amy denied feelings for the Owner, Helena suspected that wasn't actually the case, and similar to Tamaki also jokingly suggested she had a good story about the Owner.

Amy later helped Helena with a computer task that was presumably related to DOATEC, and during small talk learned that Helena was wearing a flowery dress for the festival. She later encountered Helena in the spa after Nyotengu dragged her over to the location, where she reluctantly underwent beauty treatments by the two.

Nyotengu[]

Nyotengu met Amy by accident when she was looking for Helena, resulting in her stumbling on Amy's revealing swimwear that she tried on after buying it off the internet. She then dragged Amy off to the spa to "showcase her beauty magic", subjecting her to various lotions alongside Helena.

Kokoro[]

Amy met Kokoro while trying to camp on the island, with Kokoro in particular trying to hone her fishing skills for a supposed fishing festival. Amy then, using the knowledge of the ecology of the Venus Islands she had learned up to that point, helped her to a freshwater location that had plenty of fish after learning she hadn't actually had success yet (partly due to her fishing in more shallow parts). After having a significant amount of success in catching fish, the two alongside Leifang then shared the fish among each other, with Kokoro also preparing tea. It was later revealed that the Owner misled Kokoro as a way to subtly get Amy to hang out with others during her camping trip. Amy's role in helping Kokoro finding a fishing spot was later referenced when Kokoro had to aid Shizuku regarding fishing in a similar manner.

Leifang[]

Leifang met Amy shortly after Kokoro caught several fish, as she had been preparing for a mountain climbing festival that she had been led to believe was going to occur, as well as training her Kung-fu. She ate fish with them and also prepared some of the fish with various spices, and offered to make homemade chinese food next time they camped. It was later revealed that the mountain climbing festival was a hoax instigated by the owner as a means to subtly get Amy to hang out with others during her camping trip.

Trivia[]

  • She is the sixth girl in Xtreme Venus Vacation to not have a known place of origin, after Luna, Fiona, Monica, Lobelia, and Elise. However, the laptop she utilizes has the AZERTY keyboard design, a layout mainly used in France and Belgium.
    • On a similar note, similar to Elise, the Katakana in her name implies that her name utilized the French pronunciation.
    • According to the Atelier 25th anniversary event, Amy practiced Afternoon Tea, though by her own admission, she is unable to cook yet.
  • She is the fifth girl in Xtreme Venus Vacation to not utilize honorifics when addressing the Owner, after Misaki, Nanami, Elise, and Tina, and the third to not be Japanese, after Elise and Tina. In her case, it's because she's technically on equal standing with the Owner due to being his business partner as a condition for participating in the Venus Festival, and to a lesser extent her tsundere personality.
    • She does, however, refer to the Owner as "Owner-Sama" in the Event Episode "Feelings in a Love Letter" (localized as "Dear Owner" in English), implied to be due to inexperience with writing non-formal documents such as love letters.
  • She is the second add-on girl to be announced during a livestream, after Tsukushi. Similarly, both characters do not initially agree to do the Venus Festival in their first character episode and only do so in their second under pressure (although in Amy's case, she doesn't even learn about the festival until the second episode).
  • Although certain characters such as NiCO and Luna were implied to have skipped ahead a few grades due to being at their professions at 18 years old, Amy is the first character to explicitly confirm she had skipped ahead several grades beforehand.
  • In an interview with GameWatch for the game's 4.5 anniversary, Sakuta gave some details behind Amy's creation. In particular, the staff had suggested she ought to utilize a variation of the Tsundere archetype, or as he put it, deretsun.[2]
  • Although technically vacationing on the island, Amy is the seventh DOAXVV-debuting girl to have a specific job besides acting as a Venus on the Venus Islands, after Misaki, Tamaki, Monica, Sayuri, Elise, and Koharu. In her case, it's implied she helps maintain the wi-fi networking on the Island.
  • Amy in the DMM version is tied with Tina as having the longest gap between her first and second paid SSR releases, taking between early April to mid-to-late July for both suits to be released in Amy's case (not counting her Dolce birthday suit).
  • Amy is the seventh DOAXVV-debuting girl to hold an explicit job on the Venus Islands besides acting as one of the Venuses, after Misaki, Tamaki, Monica, Sayuri, Elise, and Koharu. In her case, she acts as an engineer.
    • She is also the third girl to have her job on the island predate her becoming a Venus, after Misaki and Elise, as she was initially hired by the Owner to maintain the island's wifi network before he decided to recruit her into the festival.
  • Amy is the third DOA girl to have her anniversary gacha before her third year, after Tina and Yukino.
  • According to Sakuta P's commentary during the fifth anniversary coverage in Famitsu, they started over production of Amy's character episodes from scratch despite them being otherwise nearly completed due to wanting to better convey her personality.
